Baptist Health Walker Hospital is hiring a laboratory support professional responsible for specimen receiving, processing, and patient registration. The role involves handling specimens, labeling, and ensuring smooth workflow within the laboratory and related information systems.

The position requires attention to regulatory standards, strong customer service, and flexibility in hours to meet department needs. Relevant laboratory experience and a high school diploma are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalency is required.
• Two (2) years of laboratory experience or patient care experience are required.
• Students pursuing a science degree may substitute for up to two years of required experience.

Responsibilities

• Registers patients and enters orders in the computer system.
• Performs specimen receiving and processing duties; centrifuges specimens and labels/aliquots samples.
• Delivers specimens to test site and stores samples, slides, blocks, etc.
• Maintains knowledge of hospital and laboratory information systems, including downtime functions, billing, reference testing and scheduling.
• Maintains positive customer service relationships and responds to customer service issues.
• Performs filing of reports and requisitions and assists with charting and report distribution.
