Job summary

Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha is seeking a Laboratory Assistant II to support Specialists in the laboratory. You will receive specimens, enter data, prepare samples for analysis, and transport specimens to other lab departments.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Two years of college science coursework preferred.
• Two years experience as phlebotomist or specimen processor or MLT certification.
• Current MLT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process patient specimens safely to ensure accurate test results and comply with policies.
• Enter patient information accurately in the computer system.
• Perform accessioning, labeling, storage and routing of specimens.
• Coordinate with hospital staff regarding specimen requirements and orders.
• Handle inbound patient contacts via phone, email, or in person and follow up as needed.
• Maintain PPE compliance and document routine maintenance and equipment care.
• Assist in training new staff and student learners.
