Job summary

MetroWest Medical Center - Consolidated Hospital seeks a Laboratory Assistant II to perform routine technical and clerical laboratory tasks, including venipuncture, specimen receipt, and CLIA waived tests as requested.

The role supports microbiology workups and specimen distribution while handling billing and registration duties as part of a busy clinical laboratory team.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: 1 year of laboratory experience or completion of a formal phlebotomy training program.
• Certifications: Phlebotomy certification where state law requires.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine technical and clerical functions to include specimen registration and billing.
• Performs specimen receipt and distribution of laboratory specimens.
• Will perform waived testing, and assist in microbiology processing and plating specimens, as requested.
• Performs phlebotomy duties as assigned.

Job Summary

  • Education: Completion of a phlebotomy program
  • Experience: In addition to above, basic laboratory computer/lab information system experience
  • Certifications: Completion formal phlebotomy training program and/or national phlebotomy certification through ASCP, ANP, ASPT or similar
