Primary Purpose

Supports academic excellence by ensuring the proper maintenance of laboratories for the use of students, faculty, and researchers.

Essential Job Functions

1. Monitors and supports the activities of students, employees and teaching assistants to ensure that standard policies and practices are followed.
2. Enforces all lab safety protocols and has knowledge of chemical and biological handling, storage, and disposal.
3. Maintains and cleans laboratory rooms and equipment to ensure cleanness and maintenance according to specifications.
4. Orders and stocks supplies and materials to ensure inventory is maintained at the appropriate level.
5. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Job Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Computer literate; must be able to work with spreadsheets and databases.
• Able to work both days and/or nights.
• Must be able to work with a diverse group of people.
• Ability to communicate effectively with others.
• Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues and supervisory staff at all levels.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

1. May be exposed to short, intermittent, and/or prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing in performance of job duties.
2. May be required to accomplish job duties using various types of equipment/supplies, to include but not limited to pens, pencils and computer keyboards.
