A leading company in healthcare is looking for a Medical Laboratory Assistant I to join their team. This role involves providing high-quality service in phlebotomy and laboratory functions, with part-time hours available and opportunities for additional training. Candidates with certification will be prioritized, but training options exist for qualified individuals. Competitive pay rates are accompanied by a retention allowance.
Weekdays, part time hours 0800-1513, with opportunity to pick up additional casual hours. Primary responsibilities include inpatient, outpatient and emergency phlebotomy for adults, children, and infants using both macro and micro techniques. You will also be accessioning patient specimens, troubleshooting problem specimens, and performing reception duties. First considerations will be given to certified individuals, however, there is an opportunity for onsite/online training. If you've been considering a job in the medical field, this may be for you! In addition to a competitive rate of pay, APL currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:As Required.
Preferred Qualifications:Recent experience with Connect Care. TDG and WHMIS certificate. Ability to work rapidly with attention to detail and accuracy.
