Job Summary

Available Lab Assistant Positions:

  • Part-Time (16 Hrs Per Pay Period) - Every Saturday 9AM-5:30PM
  • Part-Time (16 Hrs Per Pay Period) - Every Sunday 9AM-5:30PM

The Laboratory Assistant:

  • Works within compliance and regulatory parameters while completing the receipt, registration, order entry and labeling of a large volume of specimens in the appropriate computer system.
  • Resolves specimen submission issues.
  • Manages a large volume of telephone calls, filing and distribution of patient information.
  • Maintains logs and scans documents into the electronic medical record.
  • Operates and performs regular preventative maintenance and basic troubleshooting on a variety of departmental instruments.
  • May require knowledge of esoteric test requests by physicians and involve order entry and processing of these specimens including assisting with specimen handling at FNA and biopsy procedures.
  • Ensures complete accuracy due to the direct impact on patient care.
  • Works independently, organizing work to meet established deadlines.
