Job Summary
The Laboratory Assistant works within compliance and regulatory parameters while completing the receipt, registration, order entry, and labeling of large volumes of specimens in the appropriate computer system. The position may also include resolving specimen submission issues, managing a high volume of telephone calls, filing and distributing patient information, maintaining logs, and scanning documents into the electronic medical record. If applicable, responsibilities include operating and performing regular preventative maintenance and basic troubleshooting on departmental instruments, understanding esoteric test requests by physicians, and involving order entry and processing of specimens, including assisting with specimen handling at FNA and biopsy procedures. Accuracy is critical as all aspects directly impact patient care. The Laboratory Assistant works independently, organizing work to meet established deadlines.

• Education Requirements: High School Diploma or GED; completes and maintains all required competencies and trainings.
• Experience: No experience required.
