Job description

St. Croix Health is seeking a full-time Laboratory Assistant (1.0 FTE) to join our team.

Shifts are Monday – Friday from 12 PM to 8:30 PM, including rotating weekends and holidays.

The Laboratory Assistant is responsible for obtaining and preparing specimens for analysis and performing various screening tests. The role involves working with minimal supervision to care for a diverse patient population of all ages.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Specimen Collection and Labeling: Collect and accurately label specimens for laboratory testing, perform phlebotomy, ensure proper labeling per policies, and maintain compliance with safety practices.
  2. Processing Orders and Specimens: Accurately process testing orders and specimens, document in LIS and EMR, and minimize specimen rejection.
  3. Performing Tests: Conduct waived testing, perform EKGs, and ensure accurate documentation of results.
  4. Additional Duties: Perform clerical tasks, maintain a neat work area, restock supplies, attend meetings, and complete training.

Requirements:

Education & Licensure: High school diploma; Certified Phlebotomist or Medical Assistant with phlebotomy training preferred.

Experience: Prior phlebotomy experience is preferred.
