Job Description

The Lab Assistant works under the direction of the instructional lead or designee on duty and provides instructional assistance in the laboratory, learning center, storeroom, and office. The primary duties include providing supplemental lab instruction to students.

Salary Range: $33,280.00 - $34,564.98

The final salary offer will depend on the candidate's qualifications and experience.

Essential Functions

1. Assist faculty in classrooms, laboratories, computer labs, or shops. Help students with materials covered by the instructor, including exam preparation. Support students during laboratory work and provide tutoring and supplemental instruction as needed.
2. Grade papers, exercises, and tests using predetermined objective criteria. Manage student records and files.
3. Prepare labs for class, secure equipment afterward, and set up/disassemble lab experiments. Test and maintain lab equipment and instructional aids.
4. Assist in constructing training aids, initiate requisitions for supplies and repairs, and prepare materials for exercises.
5. Maintain inventory and security of supplies and equipment.
6. Assist student workers as assigned and monitor safety conditions in instructional areas.
7. Operate motor vehicles for TSTC business purposes.
8. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience/Knowledge/Skills

• High school diploma or GED required; an associate degree in a related field from an accredited college preferred.
• At least one year of relevant work experience.
• Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures and skills.
• Ability to work effectively with others and follow instructions.
