Job summary

Cancer Centers of Southwest Oklahoma in Lawton is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to support all areas of the clinical laboratory. You will assist in phlebotomy, specimen processing, and reporting results under the supervision of the laboratory manager.

Responsibilities include maintaining general lab supplies, ensuring accurate specimen handling, and assisting Medical Technologists as needed to maintain quality control and compliant procedures.

Qualifications

• Third or fourth year BS degree laboratory majors preferred.
• Previous laboratory experience highly recommended.
• Able to order and maintain general lab supplies.
• Assist in lab operations and reporting of results under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the laboratory as needed.
• Phlebotomy, specimen processing, distribution and tracking.
• Manage reference lab specimens and maintain quality control.
• Assist Medical Technologist and function as a laboratory assistant in all areas.

Job description

Has thorough knowledge of test and specimen requirements, assists in lab as needed. Able to order and or maintain general lab supplies. Responsibilities include phlebotomy, specimen processing, distribution and tracking, managing reference labs specimens. Assist Medical Technologist as needed. Able to function as a laboratory assistant in all areas of the lab. Under the supervision of the laboratory manager the Laboratory Assistant is responsible for the processing of laboratory specimens and reporting of results in all areas of the clinical laboratory. Maintains laboratory documentation of such results, follows laboratory policies and procedures and maintains quality control practices in the laboratory.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Third or fourth year BS degree laboratory majors preferred. Previous laboratory experience highly recommended.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous experience as a laboratory assistant.
