Job summary

SGS North America Inc. is seeking a Laboratory Assistant in Wilmington, NC. The role supports Lab Technicians and Lab Analysts, following SGS SOPs to ensure quality and safety. You will work both independently and as part of a team to complete tasks on time while maintaining a safe laboratory environment.

The position requires a high school diploma, proficiency in English, and basic math and computer skills. A 25 lb lift capability is expected as part of daily duties.

Qualifications

• Requires a High school diploma; HS diploma preferred with 1-2 years general work experience.
• Proficient English language skills required.
• Basic reasoning and mathematical skills required.
• Basic computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Signs out supplies from supply room.
• Maintains adequate supplies of accessories, consumables, chemicals, etc., in each lab.
• Disposes of samples after retention period.
• Documents in LIMS and disposes of expired/depleted chemicals.
• Assembles non-treated in-house media.
• Decontaminates/cleans laboratory glassware, containers, accessories, etc., following SOPs.
• Performs administrative tasks as needed.
• Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
• Performs other duties as required.

Job Description

Our Wilmington, NC laboratory is looking for a Laboratory Assistant to join their team! The Laboratory Assistant will complete a wide variety of support tasks for the Lab Technicians and Lab Analysts, ensuring best quality by following SGS' SOPs. The Laboratory Assistant works independently and as part of a team to ensure timely completion of all assigned tasks. The Laboratory Assistant always follows safe laboratory practices and maintains a safe working environment.

Job functions

• Signs out supplies from supply room.
