TriStar Hendersonville Medical Center in Hendersonville, Tennessee seeks a Laboratory Assistant to support phlebotomy, specimen processing, and reporting in our hospital laboratory. The role emphasizes accuracy, safety, and collaboration with clinical teams.
You will collect specimens from patients of all ages, ensure specimen integrity, and manage processing and reporting while following laboratory procedures and reference-lab interactions.

Utilizes phlebotomy skills for collection of patient samples. Fulfills departmental responsibilities with the long-range plan, mission, vision and values of the hospital. Promotes a supportive environment that encourages collegiality. Computer processing of patient specimens before and after collection. Process and distributes patient reports. Responsible for competently handling and processing laboratory specimens, ensuring specimen integrity by adhering to laboratory procedures. Is in charge of processing specimens and sending them to the appropriate reference labs for testing, answers specimen requirement questions, mails/faxes copies of reports to physicians as necessary, and following-up with reference labs on any overdue test results.
High School Diploma or equivalent and a year of previous experience preferred. Must be able to exhibit ability to collect samples from every age group with skill. Basic computer skills and communication ability needed.
Demonstrates the ability to perform specific competencies as listed on the Competency Validation Checklist. Meets mutually agreed upon performance goals/objectives established annually as listed on the Performance Management Plan. Displays courteous behavior and cooperative relationships with customers and co-workers.
Regularly exposed to the risk of blood-borne diseases. Limited contact with patients but in a wide variety of circumstances. Has available protective gear necessary for performance of tass without risk of exposure. Occasionally subjected to irregular work hours, and pressure due to multiple phone calls and inquiries from doctors and nurses.
