Job summary

Akkodis is seeking a Lab Assistant in Austin, TX to support the operation and expansion of a hardware lab environment. This role will manage lab inventory, maintain test systems, track consumables, and assist with setup of new equipment and lab expansions.

The position requires onsite work in Austin and offers long-term engagement through September 2027, with opportunities to work with cross-functional teams on equipment procurement and lab automation initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of lab management experience.
  • Experience in MacOS environments.
  • Strong Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and data analysis.
  • Ability to search, maintain, and manage large databases and inventory records.
  • Experience supporting automated testing environments.
  • Understanding of testing methodologies including Unit, Functional, System, Performance, Technical, and Operational testing.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Preferred experience with Python, Bash, Splunk, Ansible, and automation technologies.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate lab space allocation, communication, layout planning, and expansion activities.
  • Manage inventory of devices, parts, test equipment, consumables, and other lab supplies.
  • Create and maintain processes for tracking lab devices and consumable usage.
  • Conduct inventory audits, inventory cycle counts, and verify device locations.
  • Manage storage, lifecycle tracking, and disposal of hardware and inventory.
  • Establish inventory and test device usage protocols to ensure consistency across teams.
  • Partner with internal teams to plan and procure lab equipment, modules, devices, and consumables.
  • Run automated test scripts, collect results, and update dashboards.
  • Configure automation test racks and assist with lab layouts based on equipment, network, safety, and ergonomic requirements.
  • Maintain proper inventory tagging and organization of automation rack equipment and accessories.
  • Coordinate facility improvements, lab upgrades, network enhancements, and workspace modifications.
  • Manage electronic waste disposal and recycling activities in accordance with safety and environmental standards.
  • Coordinate incoming deliveries, device transfers, and inventory movement between locations.

Job Description:

Our client is seeking a Lab Assistant with a strong lab management background to support the operation and expansion of a growing hardware lab environment. This individual will be responsible for managing lab inventory, maintaining test systems, tracking consumables, organizing lab spaces, and assisting with the setup of new equipment and lab expansions.

This role requires working onsite in Austin, TX and offers the opportunity to support a long-term initiative with secured funding through September 2027.
