Stony Brook University is seeking a Laboratory Animal Caretaker to support research by caring for laboratory animals. Responsibilities include washing and sterilizing cages, monitoring animal health, feeding and enriching environments, and performing basic housekeeping duties.
The role requires adherence to civil service standards, with a 40-hour work week and a 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. schedule. A background check is required, and visa sponsorship is not available.
As per Civil Service Standards and Specifications. There are no minimum education or experience qualifications for appointment to this title.
The Laboratory Animal Caretaker will take care of lab animals in order to help research work.
These are full-time positions, 40 hours per week, Tuesday - Saturday OR Sunday - Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Mandatory rehire roster candidates have preference. SG 5 Hiring Rate $34,452. This position includes location pay of $4,000 per year.
The selected candidate must successfully clear a background investigation.
