Position Summary

The Laboratory Animal Facility at UB is seeking an Animal Caretaker who will be responsible for dailycare of various laboratory species. The person will perform basichusbandry duties for animals housed in different health and safetylevels: Clean animal rooms and caging, water and feed animals,dispose of wastes appropriately, follow safety protocols when usinghazardous agents.

• Monitor health of animals and room environments and reportabnormal conditions. Assist in veterinary care, administertreatments and perform other technical procedures. Humanely handle,restrain and transport animals.
• Assist principal investigators, students and technicians.
• Operate and maintain equipment used in cage preparation androom sanitation. Receive, house, remove and record arrival anddeparture of animals, maintain animal inventories. Perform taskssuch as: maintenance of; supply inventories, breeding records,activity logs, sanitation records.
