Job summary

SGS is seeking a Laboratory Analyst in Carson, CA to prepare and analyze samples with precision according to SOPs. The role supports meeting daily production targets, turns around times, and maintains a safe laboratory environment.

The ideal candidate has an Associate Degree in Geology or related field with 0–2 years in analytical labs or 3 years in sample prep, plus proficiency in MS Office. Some roles require GCMS experience and LIMS familiarity.

Qualifications

Associate Degree in Geology or similar discipline; 0–2 years in analytical labs, or 3 years in sample prep.
Bachelor's Degree in Geology or similar discipline; 1–2 years in geology labs preferred.
Basic mathematical and reasoning skills; proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel/Outlook/Word).

Responsibilities

Prepare and analyze samples according to SGS SOPs using department instruments.
Perform routine operation, maintenance, and calibration of lab instruments/equipment.
Assist with investigation and responses to client inquiries and CARs.
Input and maintain technical information to support laboratory operations.
Maintain Laboratory Notebook and adhere to internal standards and procedures.
Perform asbestos analyses and Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM) analysis of bulk materials.
