Job summary

Adena Health System in Chillicothe is seeking a Laboratory Aide for days, a full-time role in the Main Lab. You will join a close-knit team delivering hands-on support in a community hospital setting. You will handle inventory, ordering, receiving and distribution of laboratory materials, plus core lab tasks, Microbiology, and Histology duties.

Responsibilities

• Inventory management: ordering, receiving and distribution of laboratory materials.
• Core Laboratory: hourly rounding for specimen retrieval and delivery to appropriate departments; QA documentation for rejected specimens; instrument loading/unloading; specimen storage; maintaining PAR levels.
• Microbiology: daily specimen setup; instrument maintenance; temperature monitoring; TB processing.
• Histo/Path: accessioning, printing and distributing slides, assisting Pathologists, changing fluids, waste disposal; monitor morgue temperature and negative pressure.
• Histology Lab Assistants rotate duties weekly as assigned.

What You’ll Do

The Laboratory Assistant provides support for the department including ordering, receiving and distribution of laboratory materials. This position has access to confidential financial and patient information. It does not have patient care or access to funds. Specific duties are as follows but not limited to: Lab Assistant - Inventory: Inventory management for assigned departments, Storeroom organization and maintenance, prestine record keeping for ordering information and validation of received materials, development and maintainging an accurate PAR level for inventory; Lab Assistant - Core Laboratory: hourly rounding for specimen retrieval and delivery to approprate departments, Quality Assurance documentation for rejected specimens, manual instrument loading and unloading of specimens, manual storage of specimens off-line, assistance with inventory when necessary; Lab Assistant - Microbiology: Daily specimen set-up, daily instrument maintenance of delegated instrumentation, daily temperature monitoring and bench cleaning, DI water monthly spore checks, CO2 tank replenishing and discarding, waived instrument testing, and TB processing; Lab Assistant - Histo/Path: Accessioning, printing and distributing specimen cassettes, filing slides and cassettes, assisting the Pathologists on procedures, changing tissue processor and stainer fluids, waste disposal, monitoring of morgue temperature and negative pressure. The Histology Lab Assistants will rotate job duties on a weekly basis as assigned.
