Job summary

Responsibilities include handling specimens (urine, blood, stool), ensuring proper storage and quality control, and using laboratory software for data entry. Strong MS Office skills and attention to detail are essential; prior accessioning experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Strong data entry speed and accuracy.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work well in team and alone.
• Experience with specimen accessioning (preferred).
• Familiarity with medical or pharmaceutical terminology (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Receive and accession specimens into the laboratory system with accuracy.
• Handle a high volume of specimens and prepare for testing or reference lab send-outs.
• Troubleshoot specimens that do not meet acceptance criteria.
• Maintain contact with ordering clients or agencies for documentation and prior-authorizations.
• Document and track specimens on hold pending insurance verification or order corrections.
• Document, track, and notify clients or agencies of specimen rejections.
