Overview

Madison-Oneida BOCES in Verona, NY, is looking for a full-time experienced Labor Relations Specialist / School Attorney to work with school district leaders and serves as a chief negotiator for participating school districts. This position will report to the Director of Labor Relations & Policy and the Deputy Superintendent.

Responsibilities

• Represent participating school districts in matters such as:
  • Personnel and employee relations
  • Disciplinary proceedings
  • Investigation of employment discrimination claims
  • Administration of collective bargaining agreements
• Analyze trends in existing employment, wage and salary practices
• Plan and conduct workshops and seminars for administrative personnel
• Consult with school boards of educations to interpret and develops policies and procedures
• Serve as both Labor Relations Specialist and School Attorney

Qualifications

• Admission to the NYS Bar
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience in collective bargaining, preferably in the public sector
• Familiarity with federal and state law governing:
  • Employee relations
  • Operations of school districts
