Job summary

W3Global in Syracuse, NY is seeking an Education & Employment Law Attorney to join our growing legal team. You will counsel school districts, BOCES, educational institutions and employers on a broad range of education, employment and labor relations matters.

Responsibilities include advising on employee relations, workplace policies, disciplinary issues, tenure, special education and school safety, and representing clients in hearings and court proceedings.

Qualifications

• J.D. required from an accredited law school.
• Active admission to the New York State Bar.
• 3+ years of employment, labor, or education law experience.
• Experience advising employers, school districts or educational institutions preferred.
• Strong knowledge of New York employment and education law.

We are seeking an experienced Education & Employment Law Attorney to join a growing legal team. The attorney will counsel school districts, BOCES, educational institutions, and employers on a broad range of education, employment, and labor relations matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise school districts, BOCES, educational institutions, and employers on education, employment, and labor relations matters.
• Provide legal counsel regarding employee relations, workplace policies, disciplinary matters, and personnel issues.
• Handle matters involving employee contracts, wage and hour issues, discrimination, harassment, workplace investigations, and employment compliance.
• Advise school clients on tenure, special education, student discipline, school safety, constitutional issues, and other education-law matters.
• Represent clients in administrative hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and state and federal court proceedings.
• Conduct legal research and prepare legal memoranda, pleadings, briefs, contracts, policies, and other legal documents.
• Assist clients with collective bargaining, labor relations, employment agreements, and related negotiations.
• Conduct and advise clients regarding workplace and employment-related investigations.
• Provide training and guidance to clients regarding employment laws, workplace policies, and regulatory compliance.
• Monitor changes in federal and New York State education, employment, and labor laws and advise clients accordingly.
• Work closely with attorneys and firm leadership to develop practical and effective legal strategies for clients.
• Maintain strong client relationships and provide responsive, high-quality legal counsel.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active admission to the New York State Bar.
• 3+ years of relevant legal experience in employment law, labor relations, education law, or a closely related practice area.
• Experience advising employers, school districts, BOCES, or educational institutions is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of New York employment and education laws and regulations.
• Excellent legal research, writing, negotiation, and oral advocacy skills.
• Experience handling administrative proceedings, litigation, arbitration, or mediation is preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple matters, prioritize deadlines, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
