Job summary

Genesee Valley BOCES located in LeRoy, NY is seeking a qualified attorney to advise on labor, employment, and education law issues for component districts. The role includes negotiating and administering collective bargaining agreements and reviewing wage data for reports.

Ideal candidates hold a J.D. from a NYS or regionally accredited law school, are admitted to the NYS bar, and have experience in public sector labor/education law and HR-related matters.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• Possession of Juris Doctor Degree from a NYS school or regionally accredited law school
• Attorney admitted to practice in NYS
• Experience and/or education in public sector labor law, education law, collective bargaining and human resources preferred

Duties:

• Work with component districts on labor, employment and education law issues;
• Negotiate and administer collective bargaining agreements;
• Analyze regional data for wages and benefits and draft comparable reports;
• Serve as hearing officer in student discipline hearings;
• Assist with employee issues, including conducting investigations;
• Keep up to date on legal issues in the field and apprise districts of changes;
• Represent school districts in grievances, PERB actions; and certain administrative matters.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Salary:

• $95,000-$105,000-Full time with benefits and NYS Pension
