Job summary

Penn Terminals LLC in a maritime terminal setting seeks a Labor Relations & Safety Supervisor to assist leadership with labor relations, safety management, investigations, and policy development. The role supports contract negotiations, records, and compliance while engaging team members in safety programs to ensure safe practices.

Requires two years in EHS management, knowledge of labor laws, and familiarity with international logistics.

Qualifications

• Combination of work and educational experience in Labor Relations.
• A minimum of two years of relevant experience in EHS management.
• Experience in international logistics and/or marine terminals a plus, but not a pre-requisite.
• Thorough understanding of laws, regulations and guidelines related to Collective Bargaining Agreements and contract negotiations.

Responsibilities

• Assists routine labor relations inquiries related to policies, procedures and bargaining agreements; refers complex matters to appropriate management staff.
• Serves as a contact and liaison for intake and assessment of employee complaints.
• Conducts initial interviews and gathers information for employee relations matters such as harassment allegations, work complaints, or other concerns; informs appropriate HR staff when additional investigation is required.
• Assists with recordkeeping related to hiring, termination, leave, transfer, and promotion.
• Collects information and data to assess cost and policy implications of negotiations and disputes; may include management and union proposals, pay scales and wages, benefits, working conditions, and other mitigating circumstances.
• Maintains knowledge and understanding of laws and regulations related to EEO, affirmative action, collective bargaining, unions, and labor relations.
• Assists with preparation of documents and records required for contract negotiations, meetings, and negotiations with employee and labor organizations.
• Assists with workers’ compensation and is a point of contact with the Workers Compensation provider
• Facilitates treatment and care of team members in the event of a work-related injury
• Assists in the implementation all safety initiatives within the terminal
• All other duties as assigned
