Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Labor Relations, Business, or HR; JD or advanced degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of labor/employee relations experience in a unionized, multi-site environment.
  • Experience negotiating multiple CBAs with a track record of cost-effective outcomes.
  • Disciplinary and grievance handling experience and arbitration preparation.
  • Strong negotiation, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel 40%+ by air and car.
  • Bilingual capability preferred (e.g., Spanish).
  • Knowledge of National Labor Relations Act rules and precedents.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and implement strategic labor objectives aligned with business goals.
  • Collaborate with HR and Operations to educate employees on organized labor issues and policies.
  • Support CBA negotiation and management, including planning and execution.
  • Assist in grievance and arbitration processes; represent the company in mediation/arbitration as needed.
  • Provide training and guidance on CBA compliance and labor relations best practices.

Job Summary:

Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Labor Objectives: Assist in identifying and implementing strategic labor objectives that align with business goals.
  • Union Partnership & Education: Collaborate with HR and Operations to educate employees on organized labor issues, providing insight into company policies, procedures, and labor-related best practices.
  • CBA Negotiation & Management: Support the negotiation and management of labor agreements, including planning, strategy development, and execution to achieve competitive and cost-effective labor agreements that align with Compass Group’s standards.
  • Grievance and Arbitration Oversight: Assist in managing grievance and arbitration processes to maintain labor relations integrity; represent the company in mediation and arbitration proceedings as needed.
  • Internal Consultation & Training: Provide training and advice to operational management on compliance with CBAs and help foster a positive labor relations environment, aiming to minimize litigation.
  • CBA Administration: Administer multiple labor agreements concurrently, ensuring adherence to negotiated terms and effective issue resolution.
  • Employee Relations Support: Offer training and guidance on employee relations and CBA compliance for supervisory and management teams.
Qualifications:
  • Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Labor Relations, Business, or Human Resources; JD or advanced degree preferred.
  • Labor Relations Experience: 5+ years of experience in labor relations, employee relations or human resources in a unionized, multi-site environment.
  • Volume CBA Negotiation Experience: Ability to manage and negotiate multiple CBAs simultaneously, with a track record of achieving cost-competitive, strategic outcomes.
  • Disciplinary and Grievance Experience: Experience in objective investigations, grievance handling, and preparing for arbitration proceedings.
  • Communication Skills: Strong negotiation, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Travel Requirements: Willing and able to travel 40%+ by air and automobile.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in food, vending, and support services is advantageous, along with current knowledge of National Labor Relations Act rules and precedents.
  • Bilingual Capability: Preference for bilingual candidates (e.g., Spanish).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in remote communication and negotiation technology.
