Job summary

Compass Group USA is seeking a Labor Relations Manager to join our team in Maryland. This role offers a clear path for career development within a leading foodservice and facilities support company and involves strategic labor planning across multi-site operations.

You will partner with HR and operations on CBA negotiations, educate on labor policies, and oversee grievances, arbitration, and compliance while traveling 40%+ as needed. A strong background in labor relations is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Labor Relations, Business, or Human Resources; JD or advanced degree preferred.
• 5+ years of labor relations experience in a unionized, multi-site environment.
• Experience negotiating multiple CBAs simultaneously with cost-competitive outcomes.
• Experience in objective investigations, grievance handling, and arbitration preparation.
• Strong negotiation, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Willing and able to travel 40%+ by air and automobile; on-site presence required; residency in geographic support region preferred.
• Industry knowledge in food, vending, and support services; NLRA awareness.
• Bilingual capability preferred (e.g., Spanish).
• Proficiency with remote communication and negotiation technology.

Job Summary

• Employee Relations Support: Offer training and guidance on employee relations and CBA compliance for supervisory and management teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Labor Relations, Business, or Human Resources; JD or advanced degree preferred.
• Labor Relations Experience: 5+ years of dedicated labor relations experience in a unionized, multi-site environment, including direct responsibility for negotiating collective bargaining agreements. Human resources or employee relations experience as a key member of bargaining committees may be considered, but is not equivalent.
• Volume CBA Negotiation Experience: Ability to manage and negotiate multiple CBAs simultaneously, with a track record of achieving cost-competitive, strategic outcomes.
• Disciplinary and Grievance Experience: Experience in objective investigations, grievance handling, and preparing for arbitration proceedings.
• Communication Skills: Strong negotiation, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Travel Requirements: Willing and able to travel 40%+ by air and automobile. Frequent travel and obligations for on site presence required. Residency in geographic support region strongly preferred
• Industry Knowledge: Experience in food, vending, and support services is advantageous, along with current knowledge of National Labor Relations Act rules and precedents.
• Bilingual Capability: Preference for bilingual candidates (e.g., Spanish).
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in remote communication and negotiation technology.
