Job summary

Qualifications

• Admission to the New York State Bar and licensure to practice law.
• Minimum practical experience after bar admission in employment/labor matters.
• Ability to communicate clearly, both in writing and verbally, with diverse stakeholders.
• Understanding of disciplinary processes and due process in a school district setting.

Responsibilities

• Research employee grievances under collective bargaining agreements and represent administration at Chancellor level hearings.
• Serve as Superintendent’s representative at appeals on discontinuance and completion denials.
• Provide guidance to principals and district staff on labor relations matters and disciplinary actions.
• Coordinate with Senior Field Counsel on employment and labor relations issues.
• Represent schools at Step II grievance hearings and train staff on labor relations topics.
• Review TAC, medical examination requests, and 3020a packages; liaise with investigative agencies as needed.
