Job summary

Barnes & Thornburg LLP in Chicago is seeking a Litigation Paralegal to join the Labor & Employment Litigation team. You will provide comprehensive support through all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motions, hearings, arbitrations, and trial.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of paralegal experience in labor and employment law, with strong research, drafting, and document-management skills, plus proficiency with PACER/ECF and MS Excel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and/or Paralegal Certificate.
• 5+ years of litigation paralegal experience, preferably in labor and employment law.
• Working knowledge of federal and state court filing procedures and PACER/ECF.
• Experience supporting employment-related discovery, including personnel files, payroll records, and electronically stored information.
• Strong research, drafting, and document management skills.
• Excellent communication, organization, and time management.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive support to attorneys across all phases of labor and employment litigation.
• Prepare and file documents with federal and state courts and agencies, including PACER/ECF.
• Assist with wage and hour, discrimination, retaliation, and class actions.
• Conduct legal research and assist with drafting pleadings, discoveries, and subpoenas.
• Finalize briefs with cite-checking and supporting exhibits.
• Manage case files, calendars, and litigation deadlines.
• Coordinate document collection and production, tracking discovery materials.
• Support NLRB proceedings and arbitration matters.
• Assist with trial, arbitration, and mediation preparation.
• Communicate professionally with attorneys, clients, and court personnel.
