Job summary

The Judicial Council of California's Legal Services office seeks an Attorney II to join the Labor & Employment Unit in San Francisco or Sacramento. You will provide in‑house labor and employment law guidance, manage investigations, and supervise outside counsel as needed.

Required: a Juris Doctor and at least three years of post‑bar experience, active California Bar membership, strong writing and advocacy skills, and the ability to work across practice groups. Hybrid work options are available.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree and at least three years of post‑bar legal experience.
• Active membership with the State Bar of California prior to hire.
• Experience in labor and employment law is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide in‑house labor and employment law advice to courts and the Council.
• Manage investigations of employment issues and supervise outside counsel.
• Advise on grievances, wage/hour issues, discipline, and leave entitlements.
• Draft rules of court, legislation, and written opinions as needed.
• Present trainings and collaborate with committees and advisory bodies.
