Job summary

Novatelegalsearch is seeking an Employment Attorney to advise employers and employees on California employment law, handling wage-and-hour, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination matters in a fully remote, 3-6 month contract.

You will draft and review employment agreements, conduct legal research, manage pleadings, discovery, and negotiations, and represent clients in settlements, hearings, and litigation while staying current with CA and federal regulations.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school is required.
• Active California State Bar license in good standing.
• Experience practicing employment law in California.
• Strong research, writing, negotiation, and oral advocacy skills.
• Excellent organizational and case-management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on federal, California, and local employment laws and regulations.
• Represent clients in employment litigation, administrative proceedings, mediations, arbitrations, and settlements.
• Draft and review employment agreements, separation agreements, employee handbooks, policies, and other documents.
• Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda, pleadings, motions, discovery, and other litigation materials.
• Handle depositions, hearings, settlement conferences, and trial preparation.
• Investigate workplace complaints involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage violations, and wrongful termination.
• Counsel clients on hiring, termination, leave, accommodations, discipline, and employee relations.
• Monitor changes in employment law and advise clients on compliance.
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, courts, agencies, and stakeholders.
• Manage caseloads, deadlines, budgets, and client relationships.

Position Summary

The Employment Attorney will advise and represent employers and/or employees in a broad range of employment-law matters. The attorney will handle cases involving wage and hour disputes, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, workplace accommodations, employment contracts, and other California employment-law issues.
