Job summary

Harris Beach Murtha, a leading full‑service law firm, is seeking an Associate Attorney in its Labor & Employment practice located in Rochester (Pittsford), NY, with a hybrid work model. The role requires 1–4+ years of labor and employment law or related litigation experience and admission to the New York State Bar.

Candidates will conduct legal research, draft policies, respond to charges, draft motions, and participate in depositions and trials.

Qualifications

• 1‑4+ years of experience in labor & employment law or related litigation.
• Admission to the New York State Bar (active, good standing).
• Juris Doctor from an ABA‑accredited law school.
• Excellent research, writing and oral communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct legal research on labor & employment matters.
• Draft and revise employee handbooks and policies.
• Prepare position statements and responses to EEOC, NY State Division of Human Rights, and CT Commission on Human Rights charges.
• Draft motions, respond to discovery, and prepare deposition materials.
• Participate as first or second chair in depositions, mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and trials.
• Assist partners in trial and alternative dispute resolution preparation.
• Achieve a minimum of 1,800 billable hours per year.
