Job summary

remotepeople in Los Angeles is seeking an Associate Attorney to join a management-side Labor & Employment practice. You will carry real casework from day one, handling litigation defense, wage-and-hour matters, and workplace investigations with direct client contact.

You will work closely with senior attorneys, manage a caseload independently, and contribute to business development as the practice grows. California bar license and 2+ years' labor and employment litigation experience preferred.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of labor and employment litigation experience, ideally representing employers.
• Strong academic credentials and excellent legal writing.
• Ability to manage a caseload independently while working with senior attorneys and clients.

Responsibilities

• Handle all phases of employment litigation, including discovery, depositions, motions, and trial prep.
• Defend employers in discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and wage/hour claims in state and federal court.
• Defend wage/hour class actions and PAGA actions.
• Advise clients on wage/hour compliance, employment agreements, and workplace policies under FLSA, California laws, and FEHA.
• Represent clients before EEOC, the California Civil Rights Department, the Labor Commissioner, and the NLRB.
• Draft pleadings, briefs, and client-facing advisory memos.
• Conduct internal workplace investigations.
• Build direct client relationships and participate in business development as the practice grows.

Job description

We’re partnering with a strong management-side Labor & Employment practice in Los Angeles to identify their next Associate Attorney. This firm represents employers across a broad range of workplace matters, from single-plaintiff claims to wage and hour class actions, and is looking for someone who can step in and carry real casework from day one.

About the Role

The team advises and represents employers on the full spectrum of labor and employment issues: litigation defense, wage and hour compliance, restrictive covenant and trade secret disputes, and day-to-day workplace counseling. Attorneys here get substantial direct client contact early and real ownership over matters rather than staying buried in a support role.

Responsibilities

• Handle all phases of employment litigation, including written discovery, depositions, motion practice, dispositive motions, and trial preparation
• Defend employers in discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and wage and hour claims in state and federal court
• Defend wage and hour class actions and PAGA representative actions
• Advise clients on wage and hour compliance, employment agreements, and workplace policies under FLSA, the California Labor Code, and FEHA
• Represent clients before the EEOC, the California Civil Rights Department, the Labor Commissioner, and the NLRB
• Draft pleadings, briefs, and client-facing advisory memos
• Conduct internal workplace investigations
• Build direct client relationships and take part in business development as your practice grows

• Class action or PAGA experience a plus, not required
