St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard, CA is seeking a Labor Delivery Scrub Tech to support preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative obstetrical procedures.

You will prepare supplies, assist the team, take vital signs, and ensure patient safety throughout vaginal deliveries. The role requires knowledge of sterile technique, instrumentation handling, and basic patient care skills, with at least one year of hospital OR/OB experience or completion of a Surgical Technologist training

Qualifications

  • Minimum one year hospital experience as OR Technician, OB Scrub Tech, or OB Tech, or completion of Surgical Technologist training within last six months.
  • Certified Surgical Technologist, upon hire.
  • Technologist in Surgery-Certified, upon hire.
  • High School Diploma or GED, upon hire.
  • Preferred: completion of an OR Technician Training program.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative obstetrical procedures and vaginal deliveries.
  • Stock supplies and assist team; take vital signs and document appropriately.
  • Demonstrate aseptic technique and handle instruments and equipment properly.
  • Collect and deliver urine, stool, and pathology specimens per procedures.
  • Maintain department supplies and ensure patient safety during transfers.

Job description

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Labor Delivery Scrub Tech, you will actively participate as a team member during the preoperative, intra-opertative and postoperative phases of obstetrical surgical procedures and vaginal deliveries.

Every day, you will demonstrate basis patient care skills, stock supplied and take vital signs.

To be successful in this role, you must posess and demonstrate intermediate or advanced skills in operating room technology and proficient knowledge of surgical procedures.

  • Demonstrates basic patient care skills, including, but not limited to hygiene, takes vital signs, weights, accurately measures I&O, documents appropriately on designated forms and in computer; lifts, moves and transports patients safely and positions infants using developmentally supportive knowledge.
  • Consistently demonstrates the principles of aseptic technique according to policy and procedure guidelines.
  • Collects and delivers urine, stool and pathology specimens according to current procedures, utilizing universal precautions.
  • Consistently demonstrates proper care and handling of instruments and equipment.
  • Consistently stocks and maintains department supplies.

  • High School Graduate General Studies, upon hire or
  • High School GED General Studies, upon hire and
  • A minimum of one (1) year recent hospital experience (or equivalent) in the capacity of: a) an Operating Room Technician, b) an OB Scrub Tech, or c) an OB Tech; or must have all of the following: a) received practical education at St. John's surgical department within the last six (6) months, b) above average performance during practical education, and c) completion of a Surgical Technologist training program. and
  • Certified Surgical Technologist, upon hire or
  • Technologist in Surgery-Certified, upon hire
Preferred Requirements
  • Successful completion of an OR Technician Training program
