Job summary

MLK Community Healthcare in Los Angeles seeks a Labor, Delivery, Recovery & Postpartum Clinical Registered Nurse to provide expert perinatal care over 12-hour shifts, following the nursing process and MLKCH policies. You will collaborate with the Clinical Unit Supervisor, deliver mother and newborn assessments, document care, and support families during labor, cesarean and vaginal births.

Requirements include a BSN, 1 year LDRP experience, BLS/ACLS, and bilingual skills preferred.

Qualifications

• BSN required; may require completion of BSN within 5 years of hire
• Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery/Postpartum nursing experience
• Nursery/NICU experience preferred
• Related nursing specialty certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates and maintains competencies of LDRP RN
• Attends laboring patients and assists with births; newborn and mother assessments
• Performs documentation of patient care including IPOC, discharge, and education
• Uses SBAR communications in emergencies and routine hand-off reports
• MaintainsBaby-Friendly model of care and existing unit policies
• Develops care plans with patient collaboration and ensures safety and comfort
• Delegates tasks appropriately and supervises subordinates
• Evaluates care plan effectiveness and modifies as needed
