Job summary

Antelope Valley Medical Center in Lancaster, CA is seeking an L&D Registered Nurse to provide antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum care guided by unit policies. The role includes fetal monitoring interpretation, newborn care at delivery and perioperative obstetric support.

The ideal candidate will have current CA RN license, BCLS, ACLS/PALS as required, and obstetric certifications. BSN preferred; two years of L&D or acute care nursing experience is desired; breastfeeding lactation training

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• BSN or MSN preferred.
• Completes twenty (20) hours of training in Breastfeeding and Lactation within 6 months of hire.
• Two (2) years recent clinical experience in L&D preferred.
• Meets all required licensure and/or certifications of the Registered Nurse.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification required prior to completion of orientation and within 4 months from date of hire to L&D.
• Basic Fetal Monitoring certification required prior to completion of orientation and within 4 months from date of hire to L&D; Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification required within 2 years of basic certification.
• ACLS certification is required for L&D Charge Nurses.
• Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification is required for L&D Charge Nurses.
• STABLE Program certification encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Meets all the essential duties and responsibilities of the Registered Nurse (RN).
• Provides accurate interpretation and documentation of fetal monitor tracing.
• Provides newborn care to the infant at delivery.
• Provides preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care of the obstetrical patient.
• Provides education to the patient/family regarding the labor and delivery process.
• Provides age specific education for infant, adolescent and adult.
• Facilitates admission of patient to the Labor and Delivery unit and discharge of patients from the observation area.
