MEDEX STAFFING NETWORK LLC is seeking a passionate Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse to join our team in Austin, TX. This role involves monitoring maternal and fetal status, administering medications, and assisting during vaginal and cesarean deliveries.

You will provide education and emotional support to patients and families, perform newborn assessments, and collaborate with OB physicians, anesthesiologists, and neonatologists.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Texas or eligible for compact license.
• 1–2 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience.
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required.
• ACLS preferred; AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification a plus.
• Proficiency in electronic fetal monitoring and obstetric emergency response.
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity labor and delivery environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess maternal and fetal status throughout labor using electronic fetal monitoring (EFM).
• Administer medications, IV fluids, and oxytocin per orders and protocols.
• Assist physicians and midwives during vaginal and cesarean deliveries.
• Provide education and emotional support to patients and families.
• Perform newborn assessments and initiate postpartum care.
• Collaborate with OB physicians, anesthesiologists, and neonatologists.
• Document patient assessments and outcomes in the EMR.
• Respond to obstetric emergencies such as shoulder dystocia, hemorrhage, or fetal distress.

• Administer medications, IV fluids, and oxytocin per physician orders and established protocols
• Assist physicians and midwives during vaginal and cesarean deliveries
• Provide education and emotional support to patients and their families throughout the labor and delivery process
• Perform newborn assessments and initiate immediate postpartum care for mother and baby
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams including OB physicians, anesthesiologists, and neonatologists
• Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the EMR system
• Respond swiftly and effectively to obstetric emergencies such as shoulder dystocia, hemorrhage, or fetal distress

Requirements:

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas or compact license eligibility
• Minimum 1-2 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience required
• Current BLS and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications required
• ACLS certification preferred; AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification a plus
• Proficiency in electronic fetal monitoring and obstetric emergency response
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity labor and delivery environment
