The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing safe patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Provides direct care within scope of practice, guides patient/family teaching, and oversees activities of nursing staff in the Birthplace. Responds promptly to changes in patient condition or response to treatment. Ensures a safe environment for patients and visitors. Uses the chain of command as needed to ensure appropriate care for newborns and mothers during antepartum and postpartum periods.
