Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing safe patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Provides direct care within scope of practice, guides patient/family teaching, and oversees activities of nursing staff in the Birthplace. Responds promptly to changes in patient condition or response to treatment. Ensures a safe environment for patients and visitors. Uses the chain of command as needed to ensure appropriate care for newborns and mothers during antepartum and postpartum periods.

Qualifications

Education, Experience, and Training:

• Current and valid state RN license
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• BLS certification within 30 days, maintained current
• ACLS certification within 90 days, maintained current
• NRP certification within 90 days, maintained current
• Basic Fetal Monitoring within 60 days, maintained current
• AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification within 12 months
• AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification preferred
• STABLE certification preferred
