Work Schedule: minimum of 5 12-hour shifts in a 6-week schedule

Responsibilities

1. Under the direction of the Department Director and/or Charge Nurse, the Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering high-quality, safe, and effective professional nursing care.
2. Providing direct and indirect patient care in accordance with nursing standards and protocols.
3. Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating healthcare needs for assigned patients.
4. Delivering care to patients across the lifespan—from infant to geriatric, unless otherwise specified.
5. Collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to meet unit and hospital goals.
6. Maintaining a patient- and customer-focused approach.
7. Ensuring care aligns with established practice standards and unit guidelines.
8. Willingness to float to other comparable nursing units as needed.
9. Strong understanding of general nursing theories and practices.
10. Prior hospital experience preferred.
11. Ability to motivate and supervise others when needed.
12. Uses initiative and independent judgment within the nursing scope of practice.
13. Demonstrates critical thinking and strong judgment in complex situations.
14. Understands the impact of medication/treatment errors and works with a high level of accuracy.
15. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
16. Exercises tact and diplomacy when working with physicians, patients, families, and staff.
17. Maintains strict confidentiality and discretion in all patient interactions.
18. Able to work irregular schedules, including weekends and holidays, based on staffing needs.
19. Capable of assuming the Charge Nurse role when requested.

Education & Certifications

1. Current, unrestricted RN license in the State of South Carolina.
2. One year of RN experience in a related field and/or a BSN degree preferred.
3. Completion of nursing service orientation program.
4. Attends IV Therapy training and/or demonstrates IV competency within one year.
5. Annual participation in Skills Fair and completion of hospital competency checklists.
6. Maintains department-specific competencies and certifications.
7. Current BLS certification required at hire.
8. ACLS certification – must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
9. NRP certification – must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
