Job summary

TriStar Hendersonville Medical Center is seeking a Labor and Delivery Nurse to provide direct patient care within the RN scope of practice. You will utilize therapeutic communication, ensure a safe environment, and coordinate with a multidisciplinary team to meet patient needs.

The role requires a nursing degree, active RN license, and at least 1 year of RN experience, with Labor & Delivery experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Degree from an accredited School of Nursing (B.S. or A.S.) or equivalent.
• 1 year of RN experience required; Labor and Delivery experience highly preferred.
• BLS and ACLS required; NRP and CPI training within specified timeframes.
• Current licensure by Tennessee Board of Nursing or Compact State.

Responsibilities

• Utilize therapeutic communication in daily practice and maintain a safe therapeutic environment.
• Identify nursing problems related to individual patient needs and coordinate interdisciplinary care.
• Demonstrate age-specific knowledge of growth, development, assessment, and care; document all patient care.
• Perform nursing processes for individualized care and follow procedures with critical thinking.
• Serve as a clinical resource, assign staff as needed, and support hospital mission and vision.

Job Summary And Qualifications

Labor and Delivery Nurse

The Registered Nurse performs direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act. Utilizes therapeutic communication in daily practice. Maintains a safe therapeutic environment. Identifies nursing problems as they relate to the individual needs of the patient. Registered Nurse plans individualized patient care while utilizing an interdisciplinary approach. Participates in performance improvement activities. Provides care and coordinates participation that fosters the goals of the hospital’s mission and vision statement. When acting in charge nurse role, registered nurses are responsible for day-to-day activities to ensure the delivery of quality patient care in a therapeutic environment. Make staff assignments based on patient need, acuity and the skill of the staff. Serve as role models and clinical resource for the staff. Respond in a timely manner to requests for information or follow-up with physician, staff or patient issues.

What you will do in this role:

• You will utilize therapeutic communication in daily practice, maintain a safe therapeutic environment, and identify nursing problems as they relate to the individual needs of the patient.
• You must demonstrate a age specific knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment and care of patients.
• Ensuring the privacy of our patients and confidentiality of their Protected Health Information (PHI) is core to your role.
• You will utilize the nursing process for individual care to meet needs of patients and document all patient care.
• Your role demonstrates the ability to perform technical skills, follow procedures, and show critical thinking.
• You will provide care and coordinate participation that fosters the goals of the hospital's mission and vision statement.

What qualifications you will need:

• Your degree from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (B.S. or A.S.)
• 1 year of RN experience
• Labor and Delivery experience highly preferred
• BLS
• ACLS Required within 6 months
• NRP Required within 6 months
• AWHONN basic, intermediate and advanced within one year
• CPI Training & Certification required within 6 months
• Current licensure by Tennessee Board of Nursing or Compact State
