Job description

About Ando
Ando is building AI-native workforce infrastructure for the 80M hourly workers in the U.S. and hundreds of millions globally. Labor is the last broken supply chain. Forecasting, allocation, and professional identity remain fragmented across static tools and manual decision-making. Ando is rebuilding this system from first principles. We start with highly accurate AI-generated demand forecasts, move to allocation-first labor optimization, and compound value through a persistent labor graph that captures skills, reliability, availability, and performance across time and employers. Over time, this becomes a professional identity layer and intelligent system serving both enterprises and frontline workers. Ando is a Seed-stage company backed by Slow Ventures and experienced operators. We are live with real customers and entering a phase where architectural clarity, learning loops, and AI systems quality are foundational to long-term success.
Role Summary
As a Labor Analyst and Product Specialist, you\'ll be a core contributor to Ando\'s product and customer experience. This is a hands-on hybrid role requiring analytical rigor, deep operational insight (especially in restaurant environments), and the ability to turn data into results. You\'ll work independently but collaborate closely with customers and internal teams — particularly engineering and product — to build and refine labor solutions. Our ideal candidate is comfortable taking responsibility for complex deliverables with minimal oversight, eager to dig into data and customer contexts, and ready to help anywhere the business needs it.
Who This Role Is Really For
If you\'ve been running operations at a restaurant, retail chain, or another multi-site hourly business — and you\'re ready to move into tech without leaving what you know behind — this role is built for you. You\'ve lived the day-to-day: the bad schedule, the manager who resists change, the employee who quits over hours. That intuition is what we\'re hiring for. The technology stack is learnable. The instinct for what your customers actually need — that\'s not.
What You\'ll Do
  • Lead end-to-end labor and operational analyses, turning raw data into meaningful insights and recommendations.
  • Ingest customer labor and operational data. Translate it into automated schedule recommendations.
  • Analyze schedule-vs-actual outcomes weekly. Identify where the model is off and tune inputs to help customers meet their goals.
  • Contribute to Ando\'s labor matrix — our core model for labor prediction and optimization.
  • Run geographic labor cost and usage analyses to support product insights and competitive positioning.
  • Own the weekly customer relationship — standing meetings, status updates, follow-through. Lead intake conversations honestly and early.
  • Lead quarterly business reviews with executives at your accounts. Present the numbers in the language of their business.
  • Translate technical findings for different audiences — CFO, district manager, hourly employee. Different vocabulary, same underlying truth.
  • Anticipate what a customer will need before they ask. Deliver it unrequested.
  • Work closely with internal engineering and product teams to translate real-world needs into product enhancements.
  • Independently manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing conditions, and contribute to adjacent tasks that support the business.
Who You Are
Non-negotiable: you know the industry
  • Multi-site operational experience. You\'ve worked in restaurant operations, retail management, hospitality, or a comparable multi-site hourly business. You know what a bad schedule looks like at 3pm on a Friday, because you\'ve been there.
  • You care about the people running the store. Managers, GMs, hourly employees — you get why a schedule matters to them. This isn\'t abstract to you.
  • You\'ve seen change management fail. Rollouts, new systems, corporate initiatives — you know why they stall, and what actually gets managers to buy in.
Non-negotiable: you\'re ready to grow into the analytical side
  • Comfortable with numbers. You\'ve used spreadsheets to plan labor or forecast sales. You don\'t have to be an engineer, but data doesn\'t scare you.
  • Willing to learn SQL and technical tools. You\'ll be trained on our stack. You need the willingness to learn, not the resume already showing it.
  • You look at a forecast and something feels off, even if you can\'t articulate why yet. That instinct is what we\'ll build on.
How You Show Up
  • Excellent communicator across levels. CFO about labor %, GM about why Susie\'s shift moved. Same underlying reality, different vocabulary.
  • Self-starter. You take ownership from start to finish, without being managed at each step.
  • Comfortable in early-stage. Resourceful, flexible, curious. The playbook is being written as we run it. You help write it.
  • Honest early. You name hard things before they get harder. You don\'t let bad news sit.
  • You anticipate. The best moments come from delivering something the customer didn\'t ask for but needed.
How We\'ll Evaluate You
Two things we screen hardest for: (1) do you have the industry intuition, and (2) can we teach you the technical piece. Our interview process is built around both.
  • The industry conversation. Tell us about a scheduling or operational problem you saw at your last job. Not a case study — a specific week, a specific manager, a specific mess. We\'re listening for how you saw it and what you did.
  • The analytical exercise. A realistic labor scenario with real-looking data. We want to see how you approach it, not whether you land on the right answer. We\'re testing for teachability, not proficiency.
  • The customer conversation exercise. A hard customer situation — a district manager resisting the rollout, an executive disappointed with results — and how you\'d handle it.
  • A conversation about a mistake. A time you got something wrong with a customer or employee, and what you did next. We care more about the recovery than the mistake.
Why Ando
  • High ownership, direct impact on product and customers.
  • Close collaboration with founders and engineers.
  • Opportunity to build critical processes and analytical frameworks.
  • A culture that values autonomy, clarity, and execution.
