A law firm seeks an experienced Labor & Employment Associate Attorney to join its team in Houston, Texas. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in labor and employment law, including significant litigation experience. With a minimum of 3-8 years of practice in this field, the successful candidate will be adept at handling a variety of complex legal matters involving employment law issues and will be comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative team. This hybrid position offers flexibility to work remotely and in the office.
Duties:
Litigation & Legal Representation:
- Represent clients in labor and employment law matters, with a focus on litigation.
- Handle discovery, motions, and pleadings in both state and federal court proceedings.
- Manage complex employment law cases from inception through resolution, including settlement negotiations and trials.
- Provide strategic counsel to clients on employment issues, compliance, and risk management.
Client Interaction & Legal Counseling:
- Advise clients on a wide range of employment law issues, including wage and hour compliance, wrongful termination, and employee classification.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining strong professional relationships and ensuring client satisfaction.
Research & Strategy Development:
- Conduct in-depth legal research to support case strategy and provide effective legal solutions.
- Develop strategies tailored to the unique needs of each client, utilizing best practices and innovative approaches to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Work alongside other attorneys, paralegals, and legal support staff to ensure efficient case management and timely completion of tasks.
- Participate in firm-wide initiatives to promote professional growth and innovation.
Requirements:
Experience:
- 3-8 years of experience in labor and employment law with a strong emphasis on litigation.
- Demonstrated ability to handle complex cases, including conducting discovery, taking depositions, and managing trials.
- Experience in client counseling and providing strategic legal advice on employment-related matters.
Skills:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and a strategic mindset.
- Proficient in legal research and applying legal principles to complex cases.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively.
Qualifications:
- Must be licensed to practice law in Texas and in good standing with the State Bar.
Education:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
Certifications:
- Active Texas Bar License (Required)
