Job summary

Avery Dennison Corporation is seeking a Label Machine Operator for the 2nd Shift (2:00 PM–10:30 PM, Monday–Friday) in Cypress, CA. You will operate and maintain label manufacturing equipment, ensuring safe, efficient production and adherence to SOPs, with a focus on quality and throughput.

Requirements include 1–2 years in machine operation, solid mechanical aptitude, ability to read measurements, and high school diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in machine operation or manufacturing.
• Mechanical aptitude with ability to troubleshoot equipment.
• Attention to detail with visual quality checks.

Responsibilities

• Operate, calibrate and run label machines per SOPs.
• Troubleshoot issues and coordinate with supervisors.
• Log materials in ERP using FIFO to minimize waste.
• Maintain a clean, safe workstation and follow PPE rules.
• Assist with distribution tasks and support across shifts.

Job Description

This role will be on 2nd Shift, 2PM-10:30PM M-F.

The hourly rate for this position is $17.79 - $23.72 / hour.

About the Role

Are you a mechanically inclined problem-solver who takes pride in quality and precision? Join our team as a Label Machine Operator! In this role, you will own the operation of our label manufacturing equipment, ensuring production runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently to meet customer demand.

What You'll Do

• Operate & Maintain: Set up, calibrate, and run label machines according to daily job schedules and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Maintain and handle dies carefully to ensure continuous line performance.
• Troubleshoot & Improve: Monitor equipment for accuracy and quality. Identify root causes of malfunctions and partner with supervisors to resolve production issues.
• Inventory & Systems: Log raw materials accurately in the ERP system using FIFO (First-In, First-Out) methods to minimize waste and track quality control.
• Safety & Workplace: Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workstation. Strictly follow all plant safety rules, policies, and required PPE guidelines.
• Team Collaboration: Assist with distribution tasks and support team members across shifts when needed.

Qualifications

What You Bring

• Experience: 1-2 years of experience in machine operation, manufacturing, or mechanical equipment setup.
• Mechanical Aptitude: Strong troubleshooting skills with a drive to understand equipment operation.
• Attention to Detail: Ability to distinguish colors, read fine measurements, and perform visual quality checks at close range (20 inches or less).
• Physical Stamina: Comfortable standing most of the shift, reaching, and safely lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
