Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior leader to define and drive a multi-year modernization strategy for laboratory technology in a complex healthcare setting. You will partner with Medical, Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Enterprise Architecture to translate lab workflows into scalable tech solutions and drive measurable outcomes.

You will develop roadmaps, set priorities, and ensure compliance with regulatory and data integrity standards, while leveraging SQL and Power BI to validate performance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Healthcare Technology, Laboratory Science, Laboratory Operations, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in laboratory technology, diagnostics, laboratory operations, healthcare technology, or related environment.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory workflows and operational needs in biotech/diagnostics.
  • Familiarity with interoperability standards HL7, FHIR, LOINC, SNOMED.
  • Experience leveraging AI-enabled tools and technologies.
  • Ability to translate operational workflows into scalable technology capabilities and measurable outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain a multi-year strategy for laboratory technology modernization.
  • Develop and maintain quarterly solution roadmaps.
  • Establish priorities, requirements, and success criteria for laboratory technology initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for shared services, APIs, workflow engines, reusable data models, and configurable workflow components.
  • Partner with Medical, Operations, Engineering, Quality, Enterprise Architecture, and laboratory stakeholders.
  • Translate laboratory workflows and business requirements into scalable technology solutions.
  • Guide solutions through ideation, prioritization, launch, expansion, optimization, and retirement.
  • Define requirements for configurable workflows, instrument connectivity, results reporting, workflow automation, terminology standardization, and data quality controls.
  • Represent laboratory users and business priorities in governance forums and steering committees.
  • Gather feedback to improve solution usability, adoption, and performance.
  • Leverage SQL, Power BI, and other analytics tools to validate performance and support ROI justification.

Job description

  • Define and maintain a multi-year strategy for laboratory technology modernization
  • Develop and maintain quarterly solution roadmaps
  • Establish priorities, requirements, and success criteria for laboratory technology initiatives
  • Identify opportunities for shared services, APIs, workflow engines, reusable data models, and configurable workflow components
  • Partner with Medical, Operations, Engineering, Quality, Enterprise Architecture, and laboratory stakeholders
  • Translate laboratory workflows and business requirements into scalable technology solutions
  • Guide solutions through ideation, prioritization, launch, expansion, optimization, and retirement
  • Define requirements for configurable workflows, instrument connectivity, results reporting, workflow automation, terminology standardization, and data quality controls
  • Represent laboratory users and business priorities in governance forums and steering committees
  • Gather feedback to improve solution usability, adoption, and performance
  • Define and track KPIs including throughput, turnaround time, workflow efficiency, system reliability, solution adoption, and operational performance
  • Leverage SQL, Power BI, and other analytics tools to validate performance and support ROI justification
  • Ensure solutions meet quality, regulatory, security, privacy, validation, and data-integrity requirements
  • Collaborate on compliance, traceability, and control expectations
  • Partner with integration and engineering teams on interface delivery, interoperability implementation, and technical deployment
  • Support terminology and interoperability initiatives including HL7, FHIR, LOINC, and SNOMED
  • Identify opportunities for workflow digitization, automation, process standardization, and technology-enabled simplification
  • Support technical debt reduction, platform scalability, and reusable enterprise capabilities
  • Maintain audit-ready workflows, operational traceability, and enterprise data-quality standards
  • Develop and support business cases for platform enhancements and modernization investments
  • Build partnerships across engineering, laboratory operations, medical leadership, quality, regulatory, analytics, and enterprise architecture teams
  • Drive complex initiatives, influence stakeholders, resolve competing priorities, and scale enterprise capabilities
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Healthcare Technology, Laboratory Science, Laboratory Operations, Information Systems, or a related field
  • 6+ years of experience in laboratory technology, diagnostics, laboratory operations, healthcare technology, or a related environment, including responsibility for complex technology solutions or platforms
  • Strong understanding of laboratory workflows and the operational needs of biotechnology, diagnostics, healthcare technology, or laboratory environments
  • Familiarity with interoperability and healthcare terminology standards, including HL7, FHIR, LOINC, SNOMED, and related data-exchange frameworks
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage AI-enabled tools and technologies
  • Strong analytical, communication, stakeholder-management, prioritization, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to translate operational workflows and business needs into scalable technology capabilities and measurable outcomes
  • Ability to lead through influence across cross-functional teams without direct reporting authority
  • Experience working directly with laboratory technology platforms, digital pathology systems, workflow applications, instrument connectivity, or laboratory automation solutions
  • Strong understanding of architectural patterns, platform design principles, integration concepts, and reusable workflow components
  • Experience with LIMS/LIS and other laboratory systems
  • Experience working within regulated laboratory environments and partnering with Quality and Regulatory Affairs teams
  • Familiarity with SQL, Power BI, operational analytics, and workflow-performance reporting
  • Experience developing technology roadmaps, prioritizing investments, managing solution lifecycles, and supporting business cases for modernization initiatives
