NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi is a 457-bed teaching hospital affiliated with the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. The facility has earned numerous Center of Excellence designations, accreditation, and recognition for its renowned Level 1 Trauma Center, Burn Center, Surgical Intensive Care Unit, regional Stroke Center, Snakebite Treatment Center, Breast Health Center, Bariatric Surgery Center, and Cancer Service. The facility also offers the region’s only multi-person hyperbaric chamber, allowing up to nine patients to dive together at one time. Jacobi’s Ambulatory Care Pavilion is a modern, state-of-the-art environment that complements its inpatient acute care services.

Under general direction, with extensive latitude for independent judgment and decision-making, the supervisor oversees, directs, trains, and evaluates personnel in a large laboratory or multiple smaller laboratories. Responsibilities include performing complex tests and procedures in various laboratory specialties and subspecialties, supervising laboratory staff, and ensuring quality control and compliance with regulations. The supervisor also trains staff, oversees proficiency testing, investigates laboratory issues, and may represent the healthcare system in court with expert testimony.
Responsibilities include:
For Appointment to Level I: Valid clinical laboratory technologist, cytotechnologist, or histotechnologist limited or provisional permit issued by NYSED.
For Appointment to Level II: Valid license as a clinical laboratory technologist, cytotechnologist, or histotechnologist issued by NYSED.
For Appointment to Level III: All Level II qualifications plus one year of full-time paid experience as a technologist in a clinical laboratory or blood bank.
For Levels IV and V: All Level II qualifications plus meeting one of the supervisor qualifications outlined in Title 10, Section 58-1.4 of the New York Public Health Law.
