Job summary

Seattle Roots Community Health is seeking a Lab Technologist to perform laboratory tests and analyses to support patient diagnosis and treatment. This role involves operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, ensuring accurate and timely test results, and adhering to all relevant safety and quality control standards.

The Lab Technologist will work closely with healthcare providers to deliver reliable and precise laboratory data, contributing to patient care and clinical decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in clinical laboratory testing or a related field.
  • Experience with laboratory instruments and quality control procedures.
  • Knowledge of CLIA, OSHA, HIPAA, and laboratory safety standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in test performance and data recording.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a healthcare team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests on patient samples, including blood, urine, tissue, and other specimens.
  • Operate laboratory instruments and equipment, ensuring that all tests are conducted according to established protocols and quality standards.
  • Record and analyze test results, ensuring accuracy and completeness of data.
  • Perform manual and automated laboratory procedures, including preparation of reagents, calibration of equipment, and quality control testing.
  • Interpret and report results, communicating any abnormalities or issues to the appropriate healthcare team members.
  • Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and accurate testing results for patient diagnosis and treatment.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to stay current with laboratory techniques, equipment, and regulations.
  • Assist in the training of new lab staff and students, providing guidance on lab procedures, equipment use, and safety protocols.
  • Stay informed about advancements in laboratory technology and diagnostic methods, applying new knowledge to improve lab practices.

  • Base Pay $36.23 - $54.09 / Hour
  • Employee Type Non-Exempt


Expected Hours: 13hrs/week- WEEKENDS ONLY



Union: Yes



$36.23– $54.09 (+$3/hour additional premium for working at After-Hours Clinic) Per hour, non-exempt, payable bi-weekly. The salary scale for this position is between steps 0 and 19, depending on experience. Job Summary


The Lab Technologist is responsible for performing laboratory tests and analyses to support patient diagnosis and treatment. This role involves operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, ensuring accurate and timely test results, and adhering to all relevant safety and quality control standards. The Lab Technologist will work closely with healthcare providers to deliver reliable and precise laboratory data, contributing to patient care and clinical decision-making.



Job Responsibilities


Laboratory Testing and Analysis


  • Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests on patient samples, including blood, urine, tissue, and other specimens.

  • Operate laboratory instruments and equipment, ensuring that all tests are conducted according to established protocols and quality standards.

  • Record and analyze test results, ensuring accuracy and completeness of data.

  • Perform manual and automated laboratory procedures, including preparation of reagents, calibration of equipment, and quality control testing.

  • Interpret and report results, communicating any abnormalities or issues to the appropriate healthcare team members.



Quality Control and Compliance


  • Adhere to all laboratory protocols and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., CLIA, OSHA, HIPAA).

  • Maintain proper documentation for all tests, including patient records, test results, and quality control records.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of lab tests.

  • Ensure that laboratory equipment is properly calibrated and maintained , performing routine troubleshooting and maintenance as necessary.

  • Assist in laboratory inspections and audits, ensuring that all records and practices comply with industry standards.



Laboratory Maintenance and Safety


  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment, following all safety protocols to protect against exposure to chemicals, biological hazards, and other potentially dangerous materials.

  • Monitor and maintain laboratory supplies and equipment, ensuring that all necessary items are in stock and functioning properly.

  • Properly dispose of laboratory waste according to safety and environmental regulations.

  • Ensure the lab follows infection control guidelines to maintain a sterile and safe working environment.



Collaboration and Communication


  • Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and accurate testing results for patient diagnosis and treatment.



Training and Professional Development


  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to stay current with laboratory techniques, equipment, and regulations.

  • Assist in the training of new lab staff and students, providing guidance on lab procedures, equipment use , and safety protocols.

  • Stay informed about advancements in laboratory technology and diagnostic methods, applying new knowledge to improve lab practices.
