Job summary

ECS Limited in Chattanooga is seeking a Construction Materials Testing Laboratory Technician. No experience required; paid training is provided and certification fees are paid. You’ll learn to perform concrete and soils lab tests under supervision, with growth opportunities as you earn certifications.

Responsibilities include basic lab tests, sample prep, data entry, and QA/QC documentation. Physical lifting up to 50 lbs and ability to work in a lab setting are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certifications in lab work may be required for soils and concrete labs.
• Strong communication and basic math skills are essential.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in data recording is required.
• Dependable, self-motivated, and able to follow directions under supervision.
• Basic computer proficiency including Word and Excel.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds daily.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic laboratory tests on construction material samples under supervision
• Assists with sample preparation and testing procedures
• Compiles test results, data input, and other administrative duties
• Performs soils laboratory testing including Atterberg limits, gradation analyses, swell, moisture content
• Performs concrete testing including labeling, curing setup, and monitoring temperature logs
• Maintains a clean, organized laboratory environment
• Supports calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment
• Maintains calibration records and QA/QC documentation
• Notifies supervisors of damaged or missing equipment
• Assists with additional laboratory functions and occasional fieldwork as needed
