Job summary

Glanbia in the United States is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to perform a wide range of research laboratory tasks, record observations, analyze data, and assist with microbiological, chemical and physical testing of products. You will maintain equipment, track supplies, support QA with SOPs, and help ensure GLP and GMP compliance in a dynamic food manufacturing environment.

The role requires attention to detail, ability to multitask, and flexibility to work weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in food plant processing or lab setting preferred.
• 1-2 years laboratory experience preferred.
• Knowledge of basic laboratory procedures (GLP) and laboratory equipment required.
• Ability to multitask, pay great attention to detail and read technical documents and manuals.
• General microbiology experience skills highly desired.
• Excellent organizational skills required.
• Ability to maintain objectivity under stressful conditions and work independently.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
• Flexible work schedule, including some weekends.

Responsibilities

• Track laboratory supplies as needed.
• Document, organize and record laboratory processes, testing methods and results with care.
• Maintain knowledge of laboratory devices and equipment.
• Assist in maintenance and calibration of lab equipment.
• Assist in preparing materials and daily testing of products (microbiological, chemical, physical).
• Assist QA Director/Manager and QA Technician in SOPs and internal audits.
• Communicate with QA about non-conforming results.
• Adhere to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
• Schedule and prioritize daily tasks based on changing requirements.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary working environment.
• Understand GMPs in the plant.
• Promote safety standards of Glanbia to ensure a safe workplace.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
