Job summary

Carpenter Co. is seeking a Lab Technician at our Fogelsville, PA plant to perform various physical properties testing in alignment with quality standards and customer requirements.

You will measure foam blocks, operate saws, weigh skins, test density, IDF, permeability, resiliency, and other properties, enter data accurately, and maintain quality records while reading a tape measure. This role requires basic computing and overtime flexibility.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Manufacturing and basic machine operation experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret a tape measure.
• Basic computer knowledge for daily data entry.

Responsibilities

• Accurately measure test blocks of prime foam and carpet cushion for height, width and length.
• Operate computerized saws and band saws for sample preparation.
• Accurately weigh top skin, side skin, bottom skin, trim weight.
• Test foam for: Density, Indentation Force Deflection, Air Permeability, Resiliency, Compression Sets, Tear, Tensile and Elongation as per Company and Customer specifications.
• Record any visual defects such as splits, buck shot, veins, etc.
• Coordinate odor panel tests as required.
• Operate precision lab testing equipment such as various scales, United Testing machines, high pressure aut clave, various flammability chambers, ovens, static meter, micrometers, rulers, porosity machine, die cutting machine and titrator when needed.
• Perform flammability testing on foam and fiber.
• Accurately enter all test data.
• Maintain all Quality records.
• Ability to read and interpret a tape measure.

• Some previousmanufacturing and machine operation experience preferred.
• Must have the ability to read a interpret a tape measure.
• Basic Computer knowledge and ability to use computerized equipment in daily operations.
• Ability to work flexible hours and overtime
