Job summary

Cornell University in Ithaca, NY seeks a full-time Research Technician III in the Johnson Lab to manage general lab activities and assist with large-scale work in bacterial genetics and biochemistry. The role includes mouse husbandry, organizing human subjects research, and executing molecular biology techniques.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree and up to 2 years related laboratory experience.
• Experience with bacterial culturing techniques and genetics analysis.
• Experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, or genomics research.
• Knowledge of lab safety requirements.
• Comfort with handling laboratory mice.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Laboratory duties: lead bacterial culturing, biochemical assays; assist with germ-free mouse work; prepare microbiome sequencing libraries.
• Administrative duties: procure lab supplies, organize labs, maintain freezers.
