Job summary

Wyman-Gordon in Worcester, MA is seeking a Lab Technician in Metallography to support the Worcester Metallurgy, Quality, and Operations teams with microstructure evaluations and specimen preparation. The role requires handling chemicals, preparing etchants, and performing on-part microstructure evaluations on Titanium and Ni-based superalloys, with weekend availability.

Candidates should have a high school diploma (science/math), PC skills, and the ability to work independently in a shop floor

Qualifications

• Proficient in PC skills (Word, Excel).
• Experience handling acids and chemicals preferred.
• Experience operating machinery preferred.
• Must be able to work independently with minimum direction.
• Must be available to work weekends.

Lab Technician - Metallography

Purpose

Provide overall technical support to Worcester Metallurgy, Quality, and Operations.

Essential Job Functions

• Prepare metallurgical specimens and perform microstructure evaluations.
• Prepare and evaluate on-part microstructures on Titanium & Ni-based Superalloys
• Provide support to Worcester Metallurgy
• Preparation of different chemical etchants for microstructure evaluation.

Education And Qualifications

• Minimum of high school diploma with concentration in science or mathematics. College degree or course work preferred.
• Proficient in PC skills (XP, WORD, EXCEL).
• Experience handling acids and chemicals preferred
• Experience working in trades, operating machinery preferred
• Must also be able to work independently with minimum direction.
• Must be available to work weekends
