Job summary

The Hawk Group seeks a Laboratory and Field Maintenance Technician to provide safe sampling and analytical support for field operations, ensuring quality verification of field products and monitoring facility systems and chemicals. You will assist the Asset Integrity Team and Operations with maintenance tasks in remote Arctic locations.

  • 2+ years direct oilfield/petro-chemical operations experience.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
  • Driver's License and ability to drive anywhere on the North Slope fields.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze custody transfer crude.
  • Conduct field sampling for routine analysis and monitor production facility systems.
  • Perform field sampling and sample prep for wellhead program samples.
  • Conduct field sampling of non-routine samples and maintenance pig sampling.
  • Complete monthly BLM gas sampling and record keeping.
  • Submit requests for lab equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Update lab procedures and ensure safe operation of the Laboratory.

Job Description:

The Laboratory and Field Maintenance Technician is primarily responsible for providing safe and efficient sampling and analytical support for field operations, including quality verification of field sales products and monitoring of facility systems and chemicals. In addition, this position assists the Asset Integrity Team in monitoring facilities and pipelines and Operations Team with day-to-day facility and drill site maintenance functions and tasks.

Working Conditions:

  • Work extended hours in sub-zero temperatures
  • Stand for extended periods of time while performing laboratory analyses
  • Work overtime as required
  • Work on the North Slope or in other remote or Arctic locations
  • Operate in severe weather conditions including snow removal and winterization activities

Physical Requirements:

  • Lift 50 pounds from ground level to chest height
  • Work and walk on uneven surfaces
  • Climb ladders to pipe rack heights
  • Must be able to differentiate colors
  • Work under a respiratory protection plan
  • Able to work a 12-hour shift independently without supervision

Responsibilities:

  • Report analytical data using LabVantage (LIMS) and Business Objects
  • Analyze custody transfer crude
  • Conduct fieldwide sampling for the routine analysis and monitoring of production facility systems (i.e., glycols, gas, water, oil)
  • Perform fieldwide sampling and sample prep of wellhead program samples (SIR)
  • Conduct fieldwide sampling of non-routine samples
  • Perform maintenance pig sampling and analysis
  • Complete monthly BLM gas sampling and record keeping
  • Submit requests for lab equipment, materials, and supplies
  • Update lab sampling and analysis procedures
  • Provide for the safe, optimal performance, and operation of the Laboratory
  • Adhere to safety and environmental policies and training compliance
  • Actively participate in the decision-making process and support the decision
  • Support corrosion monitoring efforts to extend the life of existing facility systems and other field assets, thus reducing overall production costs
  • Increase lab analysis capabilities when opportunities arise
  • Check data quality for correctness and make corrections when errors are discovered
  • Perform day-to-day drill site and facility maintenance functions and tasks including: assisting operators with pigging, installing and removing EIPs, flange management activities and other routine tasks
  • Inspect and repair operations equipment and tooling
  • Manage operations materials and inventories

Skills and Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to differentiate colors

  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to read and interpret meters, gauges, and written instructions

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years direct oilfield/petro-chemical operations experience
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
  • Driver's License and ability to drive without assistance anywhere on the North Slope fields

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry or another science discipline with coursework in general chemistry and analytical chemistry (relevant experience may substitute for specific coursework requirements)
  • Two or more years of laboratory testing experience in the petrochemical industry
  • Two or more years of oilfield operations, roustabout, field maintenance, or mechanical support experience
  • Experience working on the North Slope or in other remote or Arctic locations
  • Ability to identify historical trends from large datasets
  • Experience performing ad hoc bench chemistry testing to classify unknown samples
  • Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
  • Instrument certifications obtained through completion of industry-supplied technical training
  • Training and experience in flange management
  • Experience with material handling, rigging, and lifting operations
  • Experience performing facility maintenance, equipment inspections, and minor repairs
  • Experience operating hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment in an industrial environment
  • Familiarity with snow removal, winterization activities, and working in severe weather conditions
  • Intermediate proficiency in reading and interpreting P&IDs and isometric drawings

  • NSTC coursework
  • SIM/Prep courses
  • Appropriate HSE training courses

Schedule: 2 weeks on/2weeks off (12hrs/day)
