Job summary

Hilcorp Energy Company seeks an oilfield operator to monitor and operate facility equipment in Alaska’s Prudhoe Bay region. You will maintain pumps, valves, tanks, and meters while ensuring safe operation and compliance with SPCC and mechanical integrity requirements.

You will work a 14-day on/off, 12-hour shift schedule, with responsibilities spanning daily readings, maintenance, testing, and records. Travel to remote fields may be required, and safety comes first in this hazardous environment.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years minimum oilfield experience.
• Ability to work a fourteen (14) day on and fourteen (14) day off 12hour shift work schedule.
• Requires less supervision in the performance of routine duties.
• Demonstrates understanding of Prudhoe Bay operations and how gas plants and seawater fit into the equation.
• Demonstrates ability to work unsupervised and maintain safety and records.

Responsibilities

• Follow Company Policies and Procedures.
• Monitor and inspect facility/field equipment to ensure it is maintained and in good/safe operating condition.
• Evaluate equipment performance and recommend improvements.
• Perform regular equipment maintenance to maximize production capacity and quality.
• Communicate in a team environment and report issues to supervision immediately.
• Ensure compliance including Mechanical Integrity, Operator Certification and MOC adherence.
• Complete daily readings of pressures, temperatures, and level indication.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Retrieve tests for quality and integrity on product samples.
• Keep detailed facility/field logbook for reporting.
• Support SPCC plan; inspect pipelines, valves, and flanges for leaks.
• Shut down equipment per supervisor instructions in emergencies.
• Work at multiple fields as required.
• Monitor alarms and respond to alarms 24/7.
• Adhere to company values and schedules.

Job Objective: Monitors and operates facility equipment including pumps, compressors, valves, tank levels, and other vessels, and helps maintain a safe work environment for the company.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

• Follow Company Policies and Procedures
• Monitor and inspect facility/field equipment to ensure it is maintained and in good/safe operating condition.
• Evaluate equipment performance and recommend improvements
• Perform regular equipment maintenance to ensure production capacity and quality is maximized
• Communication - This is a team environment working in a hazardous atmosphere. Report all operational and maintenance issues to supervision immediately (leaks, unusual noises, and smells)
• Ensure compliance including the following: Mechanical Integrity, Operator Certification and MOC adherence
• Ask questions, follow the rules, finish what you start, and follow up
• Completes daily readings on critical facility/field equipment. This includes pressures, temperatures, and level indication.
• Maintain the work area clean, safe, and organized
• Retrieves and performs required tests for quality and integrity on product samples.
• Facility/Field Logbook - responsible for detailed record keeping for inhouse/agency reporting.
• Implements company's "Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasures Plan" (SPCC), as needed.
• Inspects pipelines, valves, and flanges to detect malfunctions, such as loose connections and leaks.
• Shuts down equipment, following supervisor's instructions, in case of an emergency.
• May be required to work at multiple fields.
• Monitors alarms and responds to alarms/pages 24 hours per day.
• Adheres to the company's values - integrity, ownership, urgency, alignment and innovation.

• Adheres to established work schedule, attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings.

Other Job Responsibilities:

• Ability to be available 24 hours per day (on call for questions, emergencies, etc.).

• Participates on emergency response team for location.

• Demonstrates increasing degrees of understanding on how the various parts of Prudhoe Bay work together to successfully produce to TAPS. i.e., Oil wells to the facilities and how the gas plants and Seawater fit into the equation.
• Demonstrates an increased ability to work unsupervised, act upon an acquired knowledge of how the facilities function, anticipates and corrects problems before they occur or before other parts of the facility are affected.
• Demonstrates the ability to routinely operate the facility unsupervised, while maintaining the facility in a safe, environmentally sound condition and maintaining neat and accurate records of the operations.
• Demonstrates the ability to direct the work of and train other employees of lower rank and/or experience.
• Demonstrates the ability and willingness to remain aware of and direct the whole scope of simultaneous activities at the job site on a routine basis.
• Demonstrates the ability to recognize when non-standard or non-routine conditions exist at the facility, notify supervisory staff, and offer recommendations for solutions to the problem.
• Basic mathematic and mechanical skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to travel to remote locations via large and small planes, helicopter or boat, and ability to don and doff immersion suit.
• Ability to work in arctic conditions.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public.
• Ability to consider safety in all decisions.
• Experience on the North Slope, Alaska is preferred.

Education Requirements:

• Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent or any equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating sufficient knowledge, ability and skill to handle the duties and responsibilities of the position.
